Why one and not the other?

Originally posted 2014-04-28 12:22:59. Since my children have been doing so much in their lives it has seemed to attract the attention of the bio father’s family. But one thing that angers us off is it seems to be so one-sided. Always about my daughter not my son. Asking about so many things where she is concerned. Even a few years ago calling her on her birthday and for the first time sending her a…

Dealing with everyday life

Originally posted 2014-04-18 10:58:58. Since my son and I both have multiple health issues it can make some of the seemingly most easiest things turn into something more challenging. Recently having had to explain myself to my biological father as to why I don’t have a full-time job. Without someone else understanding what exactly we are diagnosed with and what each one entails, they cannot fully understand the concept of living like we do. He…

Seizures and what you did or did not know

Originally posted 2014-04-15 22:05:01. My son had his first seizure at two weeks old. The foster parent called it ”tremors”. He was diagnosed within his first two years after extensive testing. They could not figure out what all was wrong. Between him getting so sick so often and the seizures we frequented Duke Hospital in Durham NC. He had epileptic seizures but because part of his brain didn’t develop they could not say it was epilepsy. Today…

I just can’t

Originally posted 2023-01-19 19:14:18. This morning I woke like any other day, nothing different. My husband gets up and starts getting ready for work like any other day… He was driving our truck to work because I had a doctors appointment today. He goes to start the truck and quiet as a mouse. It wasn’t starting. UGHHHH. But that’s not what this post is about… I get coffee, take some of my morning medications… Dogs…

The Traitor?

Originally posted 2014-03-20 13:54:08. The traitor. That’s the label set upon me because I chose to date out of my race. In the eyes of those that oppose of my relationships I am worse than those who I choose to date. Didn’t deserve the breath God gave me. I am ok with that. I realize I can’t please everyone with my actions. My courage is not one for the history books but it belongs in my…

Some of the early years

Originally posted 2014-03-19 15:24:53. Listening to the not-so-good advice of my biological father I put my son up for adoption when I had him. On the 3rd day at the hospital I went one way and watched as he went with the foster care/social services worker. I cried thinking at the same time it would be the best thing for him. He was placed in a foster home. His name was “Alex” while in foster…

An invitation to our lives

Originally posted 2014-03-18 17:34:02.   So here it is. The start, the beginning. Although I am a bit unsure how to do this so bear with me. I have been told on several occasions that I ought to ”write a book” about our lives. I am not beyond sharing our story I just don’t want the ”wrong” attention. You have people who are always going to be the skeptic, the non-believer, the supporter, etc…well I…

Not so turkey day

First off I hope you and whoever you arw with had an enjoyable Thanksgiving no matter how you choose to celebrate the day. I decided this year to go to my daughter’s house for Thanksgiving. I cooked two different sweet potato casserole dishes, green bean casserole and little smokies with bacon bourbon barbecue sauce. I purchased the ham, turkey, pecan pie, sweet potato pie (because I ran out of sweet potatoes) and a red velvet…
