The upside of pain

Originally posted 2019-02-28 11:55:27. I know you’re like “there’s an upside to pain?” My theory is that means things aren’t completely dead in there. I might feel pain but once I don’t that could lead to nothing, paralysis, no walking, no feeling the touch upon my skin. That my friends is why I said the upside of pain. Ok, so as you know I had a medical procedure done last Wednesday. It was an epidural…

Botox for TMJ

I just did my first session of botox to try and relieve some issues caused by TMJ. I have ruined countless teeth because of it and need some relief. Unfortunately, I had to pay for it not our insurance since they keep giving my doctor issues in approving it. Nevertheless, we are going to see how this goes and if we can still get it approved I will be trying it again. Until then, I…

Leaving pain untreated is torture

Originally posted 2019-02-14 10:00:54. By Janice Reynolds, Guest Columnist One thing we need to keep in mind when discussing the so-called opioid epidemic is that people in acute pain are being persecuted and harmed, as well as those with persistent (chronic) pain. In fact, much of the witch hunt may have started with acute pain. It has long been known that when acute pain is left untreated or undertreated it can lead to persistent pain,…

Unexpected

Originally posted 2023-06-12 09:00:00. It’s been a few days since my esophageal scope. That went as… unexpected. The doc found cells in my tract that aren’t normally found in your tract. So… he took three biopsies while he was in there. Thank goodness for what I call the Michael Jackson drug… sad that the drug is widely known as that but it is what it is. Bottom half of my body hurts, now the other…

Hopefully it helps

Originally posted 2021-08-20 09:00:00. I have been having lots of pain, more specifically nerve pain. I have had to take more of my Neurontin because of it. Thing that I absolutely despise about this medication is the side effect of weight gain. I have done trigger point injections to try and get some relief but the latest one didn’t bring much relief. So, now we are going to try an epidural to help. I can’t…

Early Morning Emergency

Originally posted 2021-08-06 15:28:02. Early yesterday morning I woke to my husband wailing in pain. He said it hurt in his upper abdomen. Every few minutes the sounds of gagging almost throwing up became constant. My husband isn’t the “I’m in pain” type. He is normally the “I’m good” type. He asked me if we had any pepto-bismol, which we did. We got it out got a spoon and he took some. We waited. He…

6 week update

Originally posted 2020-02-28 09:00:00. Had my 6 week back surgery appointment this week. So far it looks like everything is healing like it should be. My nerves that were previously compressed have seemed to start healing. I am unable to tell which nerves were affected versus weren’t affected. Where I stated before that I had started to have numbness on the top of my foot where it previously was more on the bottom. The doctor…

What is Cryotherapy

Originally posted 2019-02-06 14:00:18. Looking like something fresh out of an ’80s sci-fi flick, cryotherapy is the latest craze to hit the mainstream. Used by athletes and celebrities looking for their next holistic fix, the high tech treatment is said to be more than just a gimmick. According to its regular users, freezing yourself for several minutes can aid muscle regeneration, boost your immune system and rejuvenate your skin. But what exactly is it? And…

Never have I ever

Originally posted 2023-05-19 09:00:00. Yesterday the anesthesia nurse for my upcoming surgery called for the pre-surgery instructions. Nothing out of the ordinary until she started telling me what medications I needed to stop and ones I could continue taking. My diabetes medication is normally not taken the morning of the surgery. Pretty normal. But she also said not to take it the day before as well. Now this was new to me. My diabetes is…
