This past few weeks have been an absolute tollercoaster of epic proportions.
From happy to sad from mad to sad then excited to absolutely amazing then by the end of it all… numbing.
We have been going back and forth to my mom’s house to clear everything out.
It’s being sold, even though I don’t really want it to be, but there are other people involved, so I don’t hold the sole decision.
My stepfather has 4 children, and they deserve a portion, too.
Granted, one of them seems to have already taken her portion in other ways, but I can’t exactly speak on it right now.
We have had to take a utility trailer with us to load up trash and take it to the landfill. Then the dang landfill closes at 1pm on Saturdays, and that’s the only day we can catch it. So we sneak items in the dumpsters at the convenience center. We ask the attendant if we can put such and such items in there first.
Thank goodness he let us because we would have had an even harder time.
On a sweeter note we were able to snag homemade cinnamon rolls at a local treasure. It’s called Sunrise biscuits and damn are they good.
We bought 96 of them last time and froze most of them.
It tastes like childhood when you make cinnamon toast, butter, sugar, and cinnamon in the oven. That bite is just wonderful. Heavenly, melted in your mouth. I don’t put the glaze on them, just melt some butter on them.
Anyway…
We are almost finished but find myself delaying the end, itItso I have a reason to go back up there.
It’s a weird feeling being in there.
Yet exactly what it’s supposed to be, peaceful.
Will forever feel an emptiness without the ability to go there.
It’s not much to folks, but it’s what it represents.
Three houses on that land, and they all represented a different time period for them.
My momma loved it. That’s all that matters to me.
I just wish I could freeze it and it remain ours. 😢
