Family

Do you remember?

You know I sit here on what seems like 5th day this week, inside, we look out of the window on to a weary damp Friday…

I am watching the movie Remember the Titans with Denzel Washington, Will Patton, Ryan Hurst, Ryan Gosling, and Wood Harris (just to name a few).

As you know my husband is black, “african american”, or whatever you choose to label him.

He just happens to have more melanin than I do and just so you know MORE FRECKLES!

He can withstand the sun longer without burning like I do too lol.

All the troubles this country and it’s inhabitants have gone through to get where we are is seeming to be in vain, or is it just me?

I refuse to look at a man or woman who just happen to be darker than me different.

I just don’t understand it.

I live among so many people who look at folks the same.

I am no longer one of those few that stuck out like a sore thumb.

Hell even my husband’s family members all did the same.

More and more I am seeing folks try to take us backwards despite all the fighting those who historically fought to get us here.

I am seeing folks spew more and more hate, more and more division which in turn takes us backwards.

WHY? Why the hate? Why the division?

Folks expect folks to take sides and well we aren’t taking sides.

My daughter, who is mixed with white and black ain’t taking sides either.

Why must we be forced to do that?

Why do they/you/whoever want people to choose a side?

I just don’t get it.

Remember the Titans movie, they fought and fought and in the end it brought them all together.

Yes you had a few that chose those sides and didn’t want to change but most of them did.

Most of them saw each other and chose to except each others differences.

Those that don’t will likely be left behind.

These folks have their opinions just like everyone else but why I will never understand.

In the end… they gained a family not a foe.
