Well… it’s not a good report. I met the veterinarian at his office and they handed me a computer disc. Which I knew what that meant.
His first words were, it’s not good. We kind of already prepared ourselves for that. He is referring her to the same orthopedic surgeon that did Chewy’s hind legs. This appointment is kind of a second opinion as he would like to see if there is anyone else that can save a portion of her leg.
When she was hit by the vehicle (as suspected by both vet’s) it messed up her growth plate along with her knee. Her leg has been growing but because her knee is so abnormal her leg is kind of growing into it. He said that is why she hasn’t been using it like that . If we had been able to get to this sooner they may have been able to save some of her leg and it grow into itself but now he’s not sure. Plus the fact her knee is so messed up.
IF a doc can fix it is the question. That is why he is referring her. More than likely this will result in an amputation.
I feel so bad for her because she was just a wee-little pup and well ..someone hit her and she tumbled and we just want to give her some sort of life. I almost think this is what I was destined to do. Rescue dogs? lol. Who knows, I have done it all my life.
