Wouldn’t have missed it for anything, except maybe Pizza

There are those events in our lives and the lives of our children that we see as huge milestones and you would do almost anything to make sure you did not miss it. Well for us one of those events was Kayla’s boot camp graduation.
We are so enormously proud of her and this accomplishment. Seems her stubborn and bullheadedness actually may have helped her. Glad I didn’t tell her she couldn’t do it because she may have just proved me wrong and gone for pizza instead. 😉 But we all know Kayla is capable of so much more than just going out for pizza, it is going out for pizza and wings that we worry about but then I bet James and Dusty would assist her going out for the pizza and wings. LOL I crack myself up, LOL. Ok,ok.back to seriousness (sometimes I would rather stay in my hole laughing than come out, but that is probably where my family would tell you that the hole I am referring to is a padded room. 😉

I must say prior to watching this video I did not know that somehow we ended up with a noise that kind of sounded like a horse (not sure how that got in there, don’t laugh too hard. I know James has replayed it numerous times already just laughing)

Partial video clip of Kayla (and her friend Waynes) graduating

It was James, Dusty, my mom, my step father and myself. (Ok, ok maybe 6 if you count our moodiness). This was something we, as a whole, have never done before. We were driving halfway across the country to witness Kayla graduate from basic training and transition from a citizen to a United States soldier. Then after graduating will then set her sails for the next step in her journey by attending the school portion of training. It is called AIT (Advanced Individual Training). A two year course compressed into four months and at the end of it she will officially be a combat medic.

One last thing I wanted to mention, none of the above mentioned in my post would have been possible without the help of a wonderful organization, American Warrior Initiative Inc. They made it possible for us to have the rental vehicle and our hotel suites were all paid for when we arrived. Do you know how that felt? To know that it was all covered, even down to the last red cent (and red cent I mean the added costs car rental companies seem to tack on to your bill by the end of the rental period). American Warrior Initiative, Inc. took the costs of the rental and the hotel suites off our shoulders so that we could afford to see her graduate. For both my husband and my step father, the feeling of having your family there was a wonderful thing. To know they had to cross many states to just witness the short yet sweet ceremony. It was worth all the miles, headaches from traffic, bad restaurants, dirty bathrooms and mood swings from trying to drive it all under 24 hours.
THANK YOU AMERICAN WARRIOR INITIATIVE, INC. !!!!
